For little money you can buy a 48V 3A e-bike battery charger via the usual channels, which can neither shine with performance nor inner values. A purchase is not recommended.

The device is specified / sold for 48V Li-ion batteries with a charging current of 3A. (150W) Immediately after unpacking the “quality” of the device is visible and tangible. Without the connection cable, the device weighs approx. 310g. The primary side is equipped with a US plug and life-threatening Euro plug adapter, the secondary side with a 3-pin XLR connector. The only thing left to say about the case is “feel the cheapness”.

Inside it shows that the device has obviously already had years of life. The circuit board is browned in prominent places, several (lead-free) soldering points show fatigue cracks. The components show strong signs of use, it is quite possible that these are parts cannibalized from other devices. Connection connections are improperly made, subsequently attached wire bridges are contaminated with solder residue. Overall, it looks like the inside has been in the water for some time, some screws are covered with rust.

The test on an electronic load reveals that the charger cannot meet the specifications. The device switches off at a load current of 1.8A, not thinking about 3.0A.
